This really is a gem! The course is full of character & excellent views as well as being an interesting test. The hotel is equally blessed with character.
Four hundred years ago Old Thorns was a sleepy farmhouse tucked away in the glorious Hampshire countryside. Transformed into a cosy hotel, it retains its period charm and relaxed atmosphere, where guests can combine fine golf with gracious living and warm hospitality.
All the bedrooms at this popular venue have been very tastefully refurbished to a very high standard. Commander John Harris, one of Britain's best-known golf course architects, designed the Old Thorns course with the needs of players of all abilities in mind. Presented with 400 acres of rolling fields and woodland, he created a course that is as much a delight to the eye as a challenge to one's game. Several lakes, natural springs and stands of mature trees lend a gracious aspect to the course and the elevated position of many holes provide spectacular views over the surrounding country.
As a country club, Old Thorns has all you need for a stimulating work-out or some relaxing health and beauty treatment. When it comes to wining and dining, it offers an exciting selection of both classic and modern cuisine, served in the Sands restaurant over looking the golf course offering food from breakfast until 10pm.
